Huge thanks to Ruth and Tom for hosting such an engaging evening of discussion about infrastructure right in the centre of the city where I grew up, and where so much of The Broken Promise of Infrastructure is set.

We got deep into the emotional politics of local infrastructures like the D-Road (A500) and Etruscan Square, along with the successive failures of both national and local government to build for people and place, rather than profit.

Drop City Books is a truly inspirational endeavour – a radical bookshop but also a social enterprise and cultural infrastructure in the heart of Stoke. Please do pay them a visit if you’re passing through, and of course, pick up some brilliant books when you do!
